It all starts with a vision.

Aquia was born from the belief that our country and the global community at large deserve to have the brightest cybersecurity talent working on its toughest cybersecurity challenges.

With experience spanning the military, government, and commercial tech, our founders envisioned a company built upon Silicon Valley’s “people-first” business model and fueled by a passion for transformative change.

Following years in the commercial tech space at companies like Apple and Amazon Web Services, our COO John Sasser wondered how he could take what he learned and apply it to the greater good — moving the needle for the GovCon sector. Meanwhile, our CEO, Dave Maskeroni, had seen the government function from all sides: as a leader at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as a subcontractor with an up-and-coming Silicon Valley startup, and as a prime contractor with a mid-to-large-sized government contractor.

There were already small pockets of disruption — innovators like our President, Chris Hughes, who were heads-down taking on the herculean task of moving the needle for the sake of our national security — and the three founders joined forces, committed to finding, recruiting, and retaining like-minded, mission-driven innovators. We were driven by a determination to bring the brightest cybersecurity talent to our country’s toughest cybersecurity challenges, and to prove that we can do better for both our people and our global community — “or” has no place in that equation.

And so, on February 4, 2021, Aquia Inc. was born with a vision to drive transformative change and challenge the status quo.
